·
CrossFit
participants run, row, skip, jump, climb rope and carry odd objects. They
frequently move large loads quickly over short distances, and use power lifting
and Olympic weightlifting techniques.
·
They
also use dumbbells, gymnastics rings, pull-up bars, kettlebells, and bodyweight
exercises such as pushups, pull-ups and squats.
·
The
varied workouts eliminate routine and challenge participants to strive to be
their best.
·
CrossFit
works for any age from children to seniors, recreational athletes, people with
disabilities, pregnant women, for rehabilitation and movement retraining. Every
movement is scalable, making it the perfect exercise choice for any committed
individual regardless of experience and conditioning.
·
CrossFit
is great for developing a broad base of fitness. Rather than working muscles in
isolation, CrossFit movements involve the use of multiple muscles and joints at
the one time; a method that gets balanced results much quicker than traditional
programs.
·
CrossFit
is a blend of personal training and group training. Although the classes are a
group format, the trainers are there to watch and help each person with
technique and encouragement. This is why CrossFit costs a little more than a
commercial gym membership.

What CrossFit is
NOT!
·
CrossFit
is NOT cross training. Many fitness centres and PT studios say they offer
CrossFit but in fact they offer cross training. Don’t be fooled!
·
CrossFit
workouts are NOT random. They are ‘programmed’ to include exercises that train
the 10 elements of fitness in a structured way. Trainers and coaches spend
countless hours writing programs that are systematic and balanced.
·
CrossFit
is NOT designed for those who want to come on an irregular/casual basis. The
benefits of CrossFit training come from regular participation over a period of
time, conditioning and skill development.
·
CrossFit
is NOT just for elite athletes. All the movements can be individually scaled and
modified. When people research CrossFit they often see videos of hardened,
elite CrossFit athletes. These are usually competition videos. CrossFit works
for any age from children to seniors, recreational athletes, people with
disabilities, pregnant women, for rehabilitation and movement retraining.
